Symmetry Is Overrated: Why Your Body Feels Uneven
Let’s get one thing clear:
You shouldn’t feel perfectly symmetrical—because you’re not.
One of the most common things I hear from clients is:
• “This side feels tighter.”
• “That side feels weaker.”
It’s often said with concern, like something must be wrong. But here’s the reality:
👉 It’s not a problem unless it’s a problem.
If you’re not experiencing pain or performance limitations, that perceived imbalance might just be normal human anatomy.
Here’s a quick reminder of how asymmetrical our bodies truly are:
• 🫀 Your heart sits on the left
• 🫁 You have an extra lung lobe on the right
• 🦵 You have a dominant hand and leg
• 🧠 Your organs and movement patterns aren’t perfectly balanced
We are built to be a little lopsided. It’s part of how we function.
So, unless the imbalance is causing a specific issue, you don’t need to chase symmetry for its own sake. When problems arise, that’s when it makes sense to assess and intervene.
Until then?
Relax. Train smart. And crack on 👌
